The History of Heritage Monuments Sites for MAHHM Route

HATTI TALAB

Man made Talab created for water supply to the Daulatabad fort as well as drinking source for nearby community.

DAULATABAD FORT

Yadav period fort built in 1187 Capital of Tughlag dynasty from 1325 to 1351 Undefeated by force throughout the history.

KAGZIPURA - HANDMADE PAPER MILL

Established in 1329 Handmade paper traditional for last 7 centuries. Paper used for administrative work by rulers.

BANI BEGUM KA BAUGH

TThe beautiful example of Mughal Garden built in 17th Century. This Baugh is the last resting place of one of the emperor Aurangzeb’s grand daughter-in-law Located between the two lakes near Khultabad village it has a scenic view of lake.

TOMB OF AURANGZEB

Aurangzeb ruled most of Indian subcontinent from 1658 till his death in 1707. As per his wish his tomb is simple and is in the form of an open air grave in the village of Khultabad.

GRISHNESHWAR TEMPLE

Grishneshwar Temple, sometimes referred to as the Ghrneshwar Jyotirlinga or Dhushmeshwar Temple, is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga shrines mentioned in the Shiva Purana. The temple was built during 1765 and 1795. The temple was re-constructed by Maloji Bhosale of Verul,(grandfather of Shivaji) in the 16th century and later again by queen Ahilyabai Holkar. The temple is built of red volcanic rock and it delivers a characteristic appearance.

MALIK AMBAR TOMB

Malik Ambar served to Nizam Shahi dynasty from 1607 to 1626 . Malik Ambar was a great military leader, town planner and architect. The tomb of Malik Amber lies on the outskirts of the town on the road to Mhaismal Sanctuary, built in Pathan style. Malik Amber’s tomb is not only larger in size but also has a more elaborately carved façade.

Ellora Caves were carved during 600 – 1000 A.D. Caves of Ellora features the largest single monolithic rock excavation in the world Ellora is one of the UNESCO world Heritage site in Maharashtra, India.
